Doug Boyd, our founder, has been a trusted leader in the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association since 1982.
We specialize in building true custom homes across North Texas with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
We deliver solid value with low overhead costs, meticulous attention to detail, and top-quality materials.
We at Boyd Builders Inc. are also very proud of the fact that our founder and president, Doug Boyd, was elected in 2013 as the 69th President of the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association for the 2013-2014 session. Doug first joined the GFWBA in 1982 and has served in many ways over the years, including being chairman of the Spring Tour of Homes Committee and the Kaleidoscope of Homes, and has held the offices of Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and served on the Exec. Committee and Board of Directors.
The GFWBA has over 500 members and was chartered in 1945. The Association has a strong history of representing the interests of builders and their clients across the seven counties they serve. Doug’s fellow builders elected him to that position because they felt safe with him–and we think your family will feel safe with him, too.

Cameron Cure03/10/2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review, but when you are this poorly run of a business I have no choice. They actually build nice homes, but it’s truly not worth it because of how poor the company is run. Absolutely horrendous of an experience from the day we signed to the 1-year mark of living in the home. Nobody cares, from Joe to Curtis. They had one guy who at least pretended to care, but was incompetent. They replaced him with Curtis, and he is a thousand times worse. He’s rude and miserable when you are around him. Joe runs the show, and seems nice but is just flat out awful at his job. You can’t get ahold of anybody when you need something fixed which is unheard of for new houses. I have to send 20 emails and texts in a row only to hear back weeks or months later. I had requested 1-year fixes, and it has been 3 months so it’s obvious they aren’t coming to fix any of it. I’m done. Don’t waste your money, time, and life. 5 thumbs down. wardo16/05/2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I don’t normally leave a bad review, but I wish someone had left recent, truthful reviews prior to us signing with Boyd because that contract was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. First, this is NOT a family run business. When you visit the Boyd model you will be greeted by Joe Boyd, the son of the owner Doug Boyd, Joe is the salesman. Joe Boyd is an honest and friendly person; we enjoyed working with him. Doug Boyd is NO longer involved, he has made Curtis Johnstone the CEO, all day-to-day business is dictated by this man. All the negative reviews you will find stem from Curtis. He will play the roll of CEO, Project Manager, Superintendent and Carpenter, any single roll he could be good at but fails miserably at the combo. If you’re expecting (like we were) a family run construction business that cares about one of the biggest decisions of your life, this isn’t it, no need to read further just keep looking for another builder. If you’re into a little pain and heartache please keep reading, misery loves company, right? Second, make sure your home is specked and in the contract. Don’t think the plans and/ or Boyd’s “feature list” will dictate the items in your house because Curtis has a notebook, if you didn’t discuss what you want, and Curtis write it in his notebook your plans don’t matter. Also, when you have a conversation with Joe and he says, “no problem, just talk to Curtis about that during construction” you will get charged if it’s not in Curtis’s notebook and the “feature list”. Third, Curtis. He has a background of “track building”, he does not have the personality or temperament to deal with the general public. He’s mostly unreachable, he doesn’t respond to calls, text or emails in a timely manner. He is rude and he has a bad temper, mix that with a bad memory and you have a toxic combination that will lead to verbal arguments, big ones. This man has ruined the good reputation of Boyd Builders, don’t take my word for it, I live in Running Ranch, ask anyone in this subdivision about the experience with Boyd, I don’t think any will recommend him, It’s the same for Seclusion Ridge and Harris Place. Instead of creating HOA’s we should create Boyd support groups! Our 1year warranty was up at the end of March. We contacted Curtis and Joe the day of our one-year mark with a list of items we’d like to have fixed. We text it to him on that Sunday and heard back from him on Tuesday that he’s working on it. Today is May 16th, we still have not heard back from Curtis about getting out here to fix anything and almost prefer him not to come back to our house. I could go on and on about the shortcomings of Curtis Johnstone, feel free to ask any question I’m happy to answer. Eddie and Lynn Grego Ursala Isom20/12/2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Building with Boyd has been one of the worst mistakes of my life!!! For the problems that I've had with them, I may as well have built a home with a track builder. I closed in August and have had SO MANY ISSUES!!!!. I'm preparing to write a BBB complaint as well as filing an Attorney General complaint as well. I live in Harris Place Off Cooper and there are so many people in my neighborhood who are not happy with their workmanship and product. What I'm getting right now is the runaround but I plan to do everything in my power to shed light on the piss poor service and below custom standard of homes that they build. My neighbors have already filed bad Google Reviews and mine is coming with more specifics on my experience Believe me, it's a laundry list and more of issues! I know Boyd has been around for over 30 years but the quality level is very poor. Doug Boyd's son - Joe is now overseeing the operation and is driving it in the ground! What's interesting is that I had earlier reservations about moving forward with Boyd and I wish I would have listened to my instincts and spoke with a few more custom homebuilders. Stay tuned! They forget that the home is under warranty for 1 year in workmanship. Make sure you get an inspection before the warranty ends and hold them accountable for whatever may come up there! Carla T04/11/2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Please make an option for zero stars! Long but worth it if you’re in the market for a home built by them. Yes, they build a beautiful home, BUT looks are deceiving. This is my fourth home purchase and by far the most expensive and I’ve had more issues with this home than the other three combined. Service before the sale was A+! Service after the sale to get things fixed after the first year…an F-! I had an issue with Curtis (construction manager or whatever his title is) and he yelled at me over the phone and I returned that same energy and now he won’t respond. I texted the owner, Joe and he totally ignored me too. They’ll try to say I was “mean” to them but Curtis should’ve never raised his voice at me and I wouldn’t have raised mine either. That’s no excuse for his unprofessional behavior, as I give what I get! My driveway is the worst on the street with cracks all over it that have gotten worse over the year. I reported it to Ed (he’s now gone and was waaaaay better than Curtis as far as professionalism & communication) and he told me to monitor it for a year. I did that and a year later, it’s much worse. I’ve been told by concrete experts that I got a bad batch and it needs to be replaced. Ed said he was going to get with Curtis to do a walk of the driveway and that never happened before Ed left. I ordered garage windows about two years ago when I initially met with them. I moved in 31 May 2022 and STILL don’t have the garage windows. I have a kitchen drawer that sticks since day one. My bedroom is about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. Ed said he’d get with his HVAC team and that hasn’t happened either. I asked for a detailed & itemized list of the change order costs and again, nothing. Ed said they were in the process of moving their model home and everything was boxed. That was several months ago and still nothing. The plumber has been here at least five times to fix the same issues…finally, those issues have been fixed. Bottom line…DO NOT trust this builder for your dream/retirement home and don’t waste about half a million for substandard and shoddy workmanship. They need to get it together and stop taking folks’ hard earned money for these expensive homes with all of these issues. This home was the cost of two of my other homes combined…for what? Headaches that should’ve been taken care of a long time ago or not even an issue at all! BUYER BEWARE! They pride themselves on building great, quality homes because they only build a handful a year vs other builders that build hundreds. With them only building so many homes a year, they should have the time to tend to their buyers’ needs of defects. There’s a family on the street that’s been here two years (maybe more) and they don’t even have screens on their windows! They’ve pretty much given up now and that’s ridiculous. Screens? Really? As I type this review, I still have yet to hear from them. I haven’t even brought up all of the other issues that have already been fixed. They erected a privacy fence for my neighbor and the job is horrible. There’s a huge gap between the fences and they saw it (had to have because one can’t miss it) but still installed it and left it that way. Just laziness and bad business. Just like my stainless kitchen sink. It came with the grates and I failed to inspect the sinks initially. I mean, what could be wrong with a sink? When I finally had to do dishes, I removed the grate and the sink was totally scratched, but STILL installed like nobody noticed it! It took me a while to notice the severe scratches because I was still packed up and had to look for pots and pans so I ordered food for several days. Sloppy workmanship like that shouldn’t exist at this price point…EVER. I’m sure they will continue to ignore me and that’s their choice. But they need to do what they’re contractually supposed to do. And we all know what contractually means! I want to be done with them as soon as I can with NO further contact. Just do what you signed up to do. Giving builders a bad name! CHECK EVERYTHING CAREFULLY before close. Mithun Sarkar26/06/2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The overall quality of the house is solid. I highly recommend them. Mark Knoblock06/05/2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. You really could not ask for more from a builder. Even with the supply chain issues, construction progressed and the quality and attentive service insured the home would be everything expected. Would recommend and use them again!Showing our latest reviews
